Modding / How do I add buildings in alpha 10?
« on: May 09, 2018, 07:14:47 PM »
Hi all,

Probably a simple question but I can't seem to work it out. In alpha 10, you can either choose to start from an empty plot, or a building. By default there's only one building available in the list. How do I add more buildings to this list? It seems this is separate from the blueprint system, so if I build something and add it as a blueprint, it doesn't just show up here.

Releases / Software Complete (alpha 10)

Get it at

This mod requires alpha 10 or higher. If you're not currently on the testing branch, please right-click your game in your Steam games list, click "Properties", go to the "BETAS" tab, and choose "testing - Alpha 10".

Please note that updates will only take effect for new games. If you subscribe and receive an update to this mod, it will not apply to any saved games you are already playing, unfortunately.

Adds a huge variety of software to the game, with genuine random names for AI software, and adds a new "web" skill.

What's included?

- 2D Editor
- 3D Editor
- App (Dating, Fitness, Music, Social network, Video)
- Audio Tool
- Cryptography
- Database
- Digital Store (App store, Game store)
- Game Engine
- Game (many more true-to-life genres than the vanilla game)
- Instant Messaging
- Modding Tool (mod a game engine, or even a specific game)
- Music Editor
- Office Software (Word processor, spreadsheets, presentations)
- Operating System (Computer, Console, Phone, Watch, Smart Home)
- Video Editor
- Website (Blog, Dating, File storage, Music, SCM, Social network, Video)

- Video codecs
- Image formats
- Audio codecs
- Programming languages
- Cryptography
- Real licenses to use licensed products (cars, aircraft, guns, etc) in your game

Dependencies are fully mapped. For example, you will need to publish your apps on a digital store, which you can either create yourself (but have plenty of servers ready!) or use someone else's.

Some apps, like social networks, will need to have a social network website running before they can be developed.

If you want to offer users extra security for their database connections or websites, you will need to make sure you have a cryptographic tool to work with.

Operating system features have been hugely expanded, with other software depending on their advancement. Your instant messenger will only be able to offer video calls if you have chosen an operating system with webcam support!

Audio and music are two separate software types, allowing you to develop different tools or use the AI companies' work.

There are many more genres of game on offer, each with their own set of genre-specific features to develop, and games can be published standalone, or via a digital store. Why not publish your game on a digital store to get a sales boost?

Modding tools are now specifically aimed at EITHER a game OR a game engine, with different features available for each. They're designed to be cheap and easy to develop, but by selecting a single game, will you be limiting your user base?

Got an idea? This mod is on Github at - please submit a pull request and I'll be happy to take a look.
