.NET Modding / [DEPRECATED] Furniture modding system(Open source)
« on: April 29, 2016, 06:07:20 PM »
As of Alpha 8.10.13, this mod has been integrated into the game to allow for steam workshop support and will therefore no longer be updated.

REQUIRES Software Inc. Alpha 8.10.7+

This mod allows you to add your own furniture to Software Inc. using .obj meshes and xml files.
All XML files are loaded dynamically and Unity scripts and variables are created and modified using tag names and clever reflection and string conversion, which allows you to add and change pretty much anything about your furniture without needing to code anything. You could even create a mod with some scripts and easily add those scripts to your furniture using xml tags for custom functionality.

Repository:
https://github.com/khornel/Furniture-Inc.

Direct download:
https://github.com/khornel/Furniture-Inc./raw/master/Furniture%20Inc.dll

Note that all meshes should use this layout for UV mapping: (Custom textures are not supported in the "vanilla" mod)

(Glow = Emission, Shine = Smoothness)

Here's an overview of the Furniture and Upgradable components taken directly from Unity: All variables can be edited in the XML since it's completely dynamic.

.NET Modding / READ THIS!
« on: April 25, 2016, 12:13:50 PM »
There is no security regarding downloading and installing mods. Mods can easily modify your system by deleting, creating or replacing files. Mods can also access your network.
Please be very careful before downloading and using dll mods. Don't use a mod if you are not confident that the mod is safe.

When you install a mod for the first time you will be met with an agreement, the agreement is there so I don't get sued if you end up downloading malware.

To install a mod, create a new folder named "DLLMods" where you installed the game and place the dll file(s) in that folder.

You can read about how to mod Software Inc. here: http://softwareinc.coredumping.com/wiki/index.php?title=Modding#Modding_with_DLLs

General Discussion / Multi-monitor support in alpha 8 and above
« on: March 19, 2016, 12:19:03 PM »
THIS HAS ONLY BEEN TESTED IN WINDOWS

EACH SCREEN YOU ADD WILL ADD EXTRA PERFORMANCE COSTS, LOWER GFX SETTINGS ACCORDINGLY

I added a couple of commandline arguments to support multiple monitors. You can use commandline arguments by either making a batch file, making a shortcut or launching through a commandline interface.
You'll need a couple arguments to make it work:
  • -popupwindow (This removes the border around the window)
  • -disableresolution (This stops the game from controlling resolution options)
  • -screen-fullscreen 0 (Since the game no longer controls resolution options you need to set it to windowed mode manually)
  • -screen-width WIDTH -screen-height HEIGHT (Use the height and width you want, if you have three 1920x1080 you should put 1920x3=5760 for WIDTH and 1080 for HEIGHT)
  • -resizepanel OFFSETLEFT,OFFSETRIGHT (This changes the offset of the main panel so it doesn't extend all screens, if you wanted it in the middle of your screens you should put 1920,1920 to offset the main panel 1920 pixels from the right and left edge, note that you should NOT use spaces between the comma separating the dimensions)
So assuming you have 3 1920x1080 monitors side by side, you could use the following arguments:
"-popupwindow -screen-fullscreen 0 -screen-width 5760 -screen-height 1080 -disableresolution -resizepanel 1920,1920"
