After playing Software Inc for several hours I think I got the gist of how it works (at least at the start) so I started a Let's Play series in hopes I could get some folks to chime in and help me out here and there. It's always more fun when there's some viewers involved, and it's a bit less of a headache when I get some tips along the way for both me and you. A second part will be uploaded later today (processing seems to be taking forever) but we mostly handle contracts until we hire a second person. From there we do more contracts to save up and afford a small team. The plan is to piggy-back on another company's successful engine with our own software and killer marketing until we earn enough to develop an operating system of our own. Unfortunately, that's just a plan. No idea if it'll work or not, haha! That's where you all come in  ;D

I want to knoe what im doing wrong. A team of 14 fully stocked skilled programmers. They speed thru network and audio like crazy. But when 2d and 3d it takes forever. And i dont mean forever but it takes awhile even tho everyones base skill is full and 2d and 3d skill is full bit goes up very slow. Do i neeed more in the team or is it just that that goes ip alower then the rest?
I dont know but I think that 2D and especially 3D work takes longer.
At least thats what would be logic I think...

You should keep your programmers and artists in one team. You can separate them physically by limiting rooms to only artists or programmers.

I'm planning to add individualized meeting times to employees, so you can make employees meet at different times, even though they are in the same team, which will enable night/day shifts on the same project.

I managed to get past small jobs with alot of difficulties. The first year I stuck to contract with no staff untill I had about 75k with no loan.

After that I used the loan And put 60 k in my insurance fund and hired a good developer.

After this I made my first application and from there it took off .

I do have to say though the first 5 attempts  resulted in bankruptcy hahahaha.

I also ended the first two times in bankruptcy because I didnt hired a marketer.
I just realized that I had to get some money and a marketer (becaue I had 0 marketing skill) to earn good cash.

Since the update to 4.7, software does take longer, I've modded my game to have everyone to be 1000%+ efficient and software still takes ages.

Nah I play with 4.5 because I dont want my save file to get corrupted or go instant bankrupt...
Dont know if 4.7 is worth it ^^ Stopped the update.

how are you doing this, my design phase takes about 5 years with a team of 20 designers and a few artists and they are all educated

I think you need a good leader, all members of the team need to work good together and they have to very effective and happy, use a server for development, dont stick all of them in one room.

The OS should get bigger the more functions it haves ^^

I had the same problem.
I just placed a fridge and a coffee machine in every workroom, also a tiny room with a toilet in it next to them.
That worked for me ^^
